- A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge
- A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap
- Itching or burning
- Slight redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva

If you go to the drug store you can get some help from there. Vagisil sells a kit for yeast infections. I have never had one/used it, but I have heard that it works well and that Doctor's recommend it. AND you can get it over the counter, so I recommend that. But if it gets worse, you seriously need to see your doctor because sometimes Yeast infections can be dangerous!
There is good and bad news. The good news is that most women get yeast infections and get rid of them quickly. They can get rid of them by going to a doctor and getting one pill. They take the one pill and it's gone. That's the easiest way. You could also go to your drugstore and pick up a product called Vagasil. This product is specifically for yeast infections, but I know a lot of people who say it's infective. There are also home remedies such as yogurt, cranberry juice, and not douching that can help.
Bad news is that sometimes yeast infections come back. You need to treat it or it won't go away though. If you do this soon, it should be gone by the beginning of the week.
(You really should talk to your mother about this - she or an aunt is your best resource for dealing with issues like this. But you are right - these discussions are un-comfortable.)
Monistat cream from a drug store is your best bet. They have 1 day, 3 day and 7 day creams as well as little 'eggs' that go inside. The 3 and 7 day creams are the best (but you have to use it according to the instructions). Once again - your mom probably has knowledge that can help you.
